Bardana (Arctium)
Bardana
Bardana is known since ancient times, it is believed that it was caultivated both as a medicinal plant and a vegetable. Its name, Arctium, was introduced by Linneus but its origins are more ancient. Arctium in greek language means bear and that’s probably due to the bristly aspect pf the plant.
Moreover, the name of the species may derive from celtic “llap” which means hand and, in fact, Bardana sticks to everything it finds nearby, as hands do.
